The Cuan

The Design Team at Lightsource was appointed to support the lighting design and procurement of key decorative fittings as part of an extensive renovation carried out under new management. Working closely with the interior designers, the scheme was developed to balance traditional character with modern functionality.

Recessed downlights were used sparingly, carefully integrated within ceiling coffers and cornices to create a subtle, layered lighting effect. Traditional-style pendants, wall lights and bar-top table lamps introduce a welcoming, homely atmosphere, while discreet LED lighting beneath and behind the bar highlights the craftsmanship of the joinery.

A smart lighting system was incorporated to provide flexible scene setting across decorative, architectural and LED lighting, allowing the space to adapt seamlessly throughout the day. Due to the property’s proximity to Strangford Lough, coastal-rated exterior wall lights were selected to ensure durability while maintaining a sympathetic, traditional aesthetic.
