Lightsource were commissioned to design a lighting scheme to reinvigorate the now derelict 18th-century mill in Dundonald, as it was transformed into a contemporary restaurant.
On the ground floor café, a considered mix of track lighting and wall lights provides focused illumination to highlight fresh produce and countertops, complemented by soft, indirect light that gently washes the walls. Upstairs in the main restaurant, semi-recessed spotlights are integrated along the ceiling, directing light precisely where required and minimising unwanted glare to create a comfortable dining atmosphere. Externally, an elegant combination of uplights, bollards and steplights forms a sympathetic lighting scheme that accentuates the textured stone façade and the original mill wheel, a key architectural feature of the property, ensuring the building remains visually striking after dark.
