The company was founded in 2000 by Marnick Smessaert and has been a project driven by a passion for lighting, design, and innovation since the beginning.
A professional team of international designers carefully idealises all the products, but the brands think tank, offices and production facilities are based in Belgium. Its products are sold in over 43 countries, and Dark has won more than 80 international design awards.
Even though the brand’s name, there’s nothing grey about Dark. Instead, it is an incubator for creative ideas that have given rise to original light fixtures, chandeliers, sculptures and lighting concepts with a wide range of combinations of colours, incorporated precious materials, elegant details and focused on pure forms.
The last few year have been a mix of fantastic projects. Dark is the outsider and trendsetter from the lighting world. We deleop, produce and distribute design lighting fixtures, objects, sculptures and lighting concepts. Many international designers received a platform for their creative design at Dark. The 95 International Design Awards testify to this. They now export to 43 countries worldwide.
