Lightsource made light work of Lap the Lough for Alzheimer’s Society
Lap the Lough
Belfast project lighting company, Lightsource, has joined forces with leading dementia charity Alzheimer’s Society as part of its chosen ‘charity of the year’, with the ‘Lap the Lough’ as its first fundraising event. Six members of the Lightsource team completed the 100 miles anticlockwise cycling Sportif around Lough Neagh, through difficult cycling conditions (it never stopped raining!!!!!). Nothing new for NI, I hear you say!
The team raised a back-patting £1,000 for its first fundraising event.

Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser Laura Summerbell said:
‘We are extremely grateful to companies like Lightsource for selecting Alzheimer’s Society to be their charity for the year. Dementia devastates lives. There are over 20,000 people living with dementia here in Northern Ireland and by 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition in the UK
Emma Stewart, Business Development Manager for Lightsource, said: “We’ve grown a lot over the past few years and it’s really exciting for us to be in a position to get involved with a local charity. It’s a win-win for us – our team got to bond over the pain of long cycle and in doing so we get to help raise much-needed funds.”
Lightsource’s fundraising team have a busy calendar of events planned for the year ahead. Watch this space.
