It’s a GRAND day for Lightsource
The Grand Central has opened its doors to its very first guests. With the title of being one of the costliest construction hospitality projects N.Ireland has seen, it now stands proud as one of the key features on the Belfast skyline.
Exciting period in Belfast’s hotel scene
The £53 million project, with 23 floors and 300 luxuriously designed bedrooms marks an exciting period in Belfast’s hotel scene development. With its double height space on the ground floor and ‘its international outlook, and cosmopolitan feel’, no expense has been spared on its sumptuous interior design.
Anthony Brown, Sales Director for Lightsource, said: ‘With a large proportion of the lighting being bespoke to the hotel, it really tested our UK & European manufacturers and I can say that they have successfully delivered. “
Transitional interior lighting design
Working closely with the architects firm RPP & Michael Nugent Ltd, the contractor providing the full mechanical & electrical services, Lightsource offered a lighting design to match the ‘transitional’ interior lighting design specification that the client were looking for.
Mark Higgins, Associate, Interior Designer at RPP, said: “By definition, the style takes the traditional lighting look and softens it by blending it with Contemporary styles from around the globe. It’s less fussy than a classic styling and the intent is is to create a warmer, more inviting space. We achieved this with bronze finishes and traditional lines with minimal ornamentation. Lightsource took this brief and working closely with Mark delivered decorative front of house lighting that matched our brief perfectly.”
The project marks a key milestone in the growth of Lightsource in providing project lighting services but also being the largest hospitality lighting project that it has undertaken to date.
Anthony added: ” I’d also like to say a huge thank you to our staff for delivering this on time and to the allocated budget. I am really proud.”
