Lightsource Proud to Contribute to DIY SOS, Bangor!

Back in 2019, Lightsource contributed the outdoor lighting for the first-ever DIY SOS Big Build in Northern Ireland. The McCreight family home got the transformation of a lifetime to suit their specific needs. Since airing, the episode has been labelled the ‘Best Ever,’ due to the community spirit conveyed and emotional reaction from everyone involved.

Suzanne Garuda led the design of the family home in Bangor. Leading the biggest team of volunteers ever seen on the show, Suzanne expertly saw her concept come to completion in just 9 days. The home was stripped bare and rebuilt on the inside to accommodate the evolving and complex needs of the family.

A new lift was one of the largest editions to the home, freeing up the beautiful new space and beyond for mum, Mandy. The home was completely restructured, upstairs and downstairs in record time. The team of contractors had stripped the old home back to the bricks before lunch on the first day!

Lightsource are proud to have made a small contribution to this touching story. The community spirit shown on this project has opened the eyes of many across the UK and represents the community in which Lightsource operate. A huge congratulations to all involved!

Lightsource supplied several of the Astro Richmond outdoor lights for the project. The Richmond fittings are ready to face the famous Northern Irish weather due to their IP44 rating and quality construction.
